Headphones: A Waco Skyline Sampler

snow-white-and-the-poisoned-apples

For the first volume of songs from Waco Skyline we decided to call the sampler Headphones. It is not only only a funny word, but it is a word that also reveals that our producer–the infallible Pope himself–recorded and produced these songs with headphones on the entire time. He mixed them with headphones on while Luis watched episodes of Hannah Montana and his wife developed lesson plans for 3rd graders. He listened (and listens) to the completed songs with headphones.

Stereo is best understood by our immaculate producer while wearing headphones–whether it’s The Zombies’ Odessey and Oracle, Mercury’s “Real Presence” recording of  Byron Janis’ performance of Pictures at an Exhibition, or M. Ward’s Post War. So it seems natural that these songs are best experienced with a good pair of headphones–be they hi-fi DJ ‘phones, noise-canceling Bose, or Apple’s earbuds.

Download. Plug-in. Jam out.
